Mile High Community Band

Who we are

The Mile High Community Band (MHCB) is Denver’s oldest community band. Founded in 1937, MHCB brings together musicians of all ages and skill levels from across the Denver metro area to share a love of music and performance.

As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, we are dedicated to making live band music accessible to our community. We welcome everyone — whether you’d like to pick up an instrument and play alongside us or join us in the audience at one of our concerts, there’s a place for you here!

Band. Together.

Ready to make some music? Grab your instrument and come play! The Mile High Community Band is open to musicians of all ages and experience levels — no audition required. If you’re a seasoned performer or just dusting off your case for the first time in years, you’ll find a welcoming, supportive group ready to play alongside you.

Our Bands

  • Concert Band

Our flagship ensemble, the Concert Band performs dynamic, high-quality repertoire ranging from symphonic works and marches to show tunes, pop, and jazz.

  • Jazz Band

Our Jazz Band helps continuing musicians strengthen their playing and music-reading while exploring jazz rhythms, improvisation, and styles like blues, big band, Latin jazz, and reggae.

  • Jazz Combo

A smaller, invite-only ensemble focused on jazz standards and advanced improvisation. The Jazz Combo provides an intimate setting to deepen musicians’ collaborative and soloing skills.

Help us Make Music

Your support helps keep live band music thriving in our community. Two-thirds of your donation pays our conductors and operations staff, and the remainder covers our rehearsal space, performance venues, and administrative costs. Plus, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, all donations to the Mile High Community Band are tax deductible.

There are more ways to give, too. You can place an ad in our concert program, host a profit share, or partner with us in other creative ways to support the band. Every contribution helps us keep sharing music with you!
